Tax Internship Qualifications –
Accounting GPA must be 3.0 or higher. Students must have completed Intermediate Accounting I or II, Individual Tax and Corporate Tax courses should be able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week. Internship generally ends mid April.
Job Description
Similar to our entry-level, full-time employees, interns are given a wide variety of diversified audit and accounting assignments under the supervision of different professionals. Performance is based on the quality of work, application of accounting knowledge, and ability to meet time restraints.
Essential Functions

Prepares simple to average tax returns in various niche areas.

Basic tax knowledge in the areas of individual, partnership, S corporation, and C corporation taxation.

Familiarity with tax forms (1040, 1065, 1120, 1120S, W-2, 1099s, etc).

Progress toward passing the Certified Public Accountant examination.

Learn all tax department tax processing procedures.

Basic accounting knowledge - bookkeeping skills, preparing journal entries (debit and credit), understanding trial balance sheet, and income statement information.

Have general Word and Excel skills to prepare necessary work papers, memos, letters, etc.

Have basic tax research knowledge and general ability to use tax research and tax-related programs.

Assist audit department with audit engagements, as needed

All other duties as assigned.
